We interviewed four different architects for our project. Most of them were referrals from the builder, but we did some of our own research on Houzz to find a couple other options as well. We drafted our wish list and gathered our inspiration photos in preparation for each meeting. It was clear that some would be a better fit than others. One was way too expensive and another wasn’t really convinced she could design what we wanted within our budget. That left us with two architects to decide between. We liked them both and were sure either one of them could handle the project, so it was a tough decision. Ultimately, we choose Debbie Davenport at Caribou Ridge. Her costs were more competitive because she has less overhead and we really liked one of the homes she designed. We toured it with our chosen builder, Best Custom Homes, and recognized that it had a lot of the same features that we wanted in our own home.
