It isn’t one of the most exciting things, but a good septic system was critical for our new mountain home. Our delicate local ecosystem demands the responsible use of our water and waste water, so we had a sophisticated septic system designed by Barta & Associates. The system was constructed to perform well in our hard rocky soils and return purified waste water back to the underground system. When Grapes & Sons began excavating the leach field, it looked like we were getting an Olympic size lap pool in our back yard. The large hole was quickly filled with 100 cubic yards of sand, native soil, and a network of pipes.  Two additional holes were dug for the large polyurethane septic and dosing tanks that were also buried in short order. Now that we have our basic water and septic infrastructure in place, we’re ready to get going on the foundation.
