Framing the first walls

We received the first delivery of framing materials on a Monday in mid-September. A couple days later the crew was hard at work constructing the walls of the lower level. They worked their way around the outer perimeter, completing the outside walls in a little less than 2 weeks. It was so exciting to see the view that we fell in love with through the newly framed patio door and window openings. We did notice that the rec room windows were not as tall as they should have been, but the framers quickly fixed the issue. Afterwards, we were able to enjoy an amazing sunset through those bigger window openings.

About 2 weeks later, the support beams, floor joists, and floor decking were complete – giving us a new perspective of the view as we stood high above the trees on the main floor level. Luckily, the main level floor decking also provided some shelter for the crew as the cold, snowy weather blew in. Protected from the elements, they went back to work on the lower level to frame the interior walls. It has been a thrill to see the lower level rooms come to life after looking at 2D floorplans for the last 18 months. Now we can’t wait to see how the main level comes together over the next few weeks.
